"The first locations of importance in Lander was made by Vanderbosch and his party. On the December 19, 1862 the Oregon Ledge was discovered by Thomas Triplett, Charles B. Morrison, George C Love and John Bevelbymer. It located near the upper end of the canon where now stands that part of the town called Upper Austin [Clifton]." (J.
