Green border, black print, and vignette of Native Americans looking down on train scene. 7 x 11" Folds, toning. This company was a holding company organized by Henry Villard in 1881 to control the Northern Pacific Railroad and Oregon Railway and Navigation Company. It eventually became the North American Company. George Pullman was the creator of the famous Pullman Palace train car. The Pullman Car Company was a manufacturer of railroad cars in the mid-to-late 19th century through the first half of the 20th century, during the boom of railroads in the United States. Through rapid late nineteenth century development of mass production, and takeover of rivals, the company developed a virtual monopoly on production and ownership of sleeper cars. George Pullman developed the sleeper car and it was widely used into the 1980's.
