Original packet of 9 Memorandums of Bullion for the Savage Mining Company at the Gould & Curry Assay Office, 1867. Come with original brown paper wrapping that they were kept in by the company! Each is 10 x 17", black print on blue paper, printed by JP LeCount & Co. All signed by Gideon E. Moore, assayer. Deposits from mills including: Central, Buckeye, Empire State, Mariposa, Island, Daney, Manhattan, Ophir, Temelec, Atchison, Eureka, Savage, Woodworth, Devil's Gate, Booths, Deland's, and Eastern Slope. Thus, it is also a remarkable archive of the output of the Comstock mills in the 1860s! Assay results are typical for the Comstock (silver fineness .900 or above). Fascinating and rare group. We do not believe other such original packets still exist in private hands. Ex. John J. Ford Collection
