A typewritten letter from 1941, written by William Ash Waid of Pawhuska, Oklahoma to his friend William A. Byrns of Alliance, Ohio. In the letter, Waid tells Byrns of his time working on the famous Osage Nation oil fields and describes the public auctions of oil leases on the land. Included along with the letter is a flier advertising one such auction occurring in Pawhuska, described as an 'Osage Oil Leases Public Auction Under Supervision of United States Government'. Waid started working the oil fields in 1915, and provides a detailed account of the fields until their decline. [ Pawhuska Oklahoma
