Lot of 10. 1) Five billheads, three different types. a) Simpson & Osburn, Wholesale and Retail Druggists. 1875. "Dealers in Pure Wines and Liquors For Medical Purposes." Folds, soiling. b) Osburn & Shoemaker. Two billheads from 1883. Folds, some toning, wear. c) Two pink billheads for Osburn & Shoemaker. 1887 and 1888. Folds, pin holes, some soiling. 2) First National Bank revenue check to Osburn & Shoemaker, 1881, signed by Theo. Winters. 3) 1888 State Controllers Warrant to Osborne [sic.] & Shoemaker for $9.85 drugs. 4) Prescription slip for Osburn & Shoemaker, 1890, for salicylic acid. 4 x 5.25" 5) Two Bank of Nevada letterheads, 1890 and 1895, signed by RS Osburn as Cashier. Ralph Osburn came to Reno in the 1870s and bought an interest in JE Simpson's drug store in 1873. John S. Shoemaker was an early arrival to the Reno area, coming to Truckee Meadows in 1866. Osburn and Shoemaker were both active in the mining district at Peavine and met there in 1872. They formed their drug partnership in 1878. Their store burned down in 1879 but was rebuilt. They sold Boca and Crystal Peak Beer, produced by the Boca Brewing Company. Osburn retired from the business in 1890 and became a cashier for the Bank of Nevada.
