Lot of 2 different. 1) Montrose Mining Company. Inc. in California. No. 108, issued for 10,000 shares to asst. secretary ER Grant in 1888. Also signed by vice president Edward Bunker. Not cancelled. Brown border, underground mining vignette. Wear to edges. Not listed in C&L. Mine was in the Uncompahgre district, near Ouray, Colorado. [E.M.J., May 7, 1887, pg. 339] 2) Vulcan Gold & Silver Mining Co. No. 19, issued to Eldridge in 1880. Signed by president Jones and secretary Jones. Not cancelled. Black border and print. Folds, some toning. The company owned the Vulcan lode, 300 x 1500 feet; situated on the south slope of Potosi Mountain, 6 1/2 mi. sw of Ouray, Mt. Sneffles district. The lode was patented in 1879; vein a fissure from eight to twelve feet wide, pay streak 12 inches, containing galena with some brittle and ruby silver in a quartz gangue, milling when sorted on average fifty ounces of silver per ton. The Vulcan lode was developed by one tunnel 100 foot long on the vein and one fifteen-foot crosscut (Corregan and Lingane, 1883)
