Charles B. Andrews was both a sheriff & marshal in the area of Corning, Kansas and is responsible for the capture and imprisonment of Jim Dalton, one of the notorious Dalton Gang. This lot includes a binder that contains news clippings and letters relating to Jim Dalton, including his arrest document signed by J.B. Baker, one o the lawmen who helped catch Dalton and his accomplices, Ed Royal and Tom Taylor. There's also a letter written by Andrews to Kansas Governor E.W. Hoch seeking clemency for Dalton who was being held at the Kansas State Penitentiary for murder, dated Nov. 10, 1907. There are also letters and affidavits signed by Dalton himself, seeking clemency. There's a handwritten account called the Daltons Ride Again and a couple of letters from Dalton to Andrews, one dated January 30, 1932 from Dalton to Andrews. Incredibly, this binder is accompanied by a large oval framed photo of Andrews with his Marshal's badge. The beautiful frame includes four imitation quartz, gold cabochons. The frame measures 19"x 25" and is in very nice condition. Please see photos for more details. Corning Kansas
