CDV of California outlaw Tiburcio Vasquez. It measures 2.5"x 4.5".with D.S. Boydston Photographer, Volcano.
There is some doubt that Vasquez was in Volcano during the years (1869-1873) described in the "essay" that accompanies the CDV and when it might have been taken. The only record I can find of him being in Amador County, concerns a warrant issued in 1859. I've gone through several historic sites and can't come to the conclusion that this is Vasquez or that he was in Amador County in the years stated. As for the picture itself, true it is a very similar likeness of Vasquez, with a few minor exceptions. The subject in the photo has a softer facial structure, the hairline is a bit different and the facial hair is also not quite the same. I've been familiar with Vasquez and his notoriety since childhood. Not only was I born and raised in San Jose, but I have several of my Portuguese relatives buried at the Mission Cemetery where he now resides. In very nice condition. Please see photos for more details.
