Signed by president C.C. Knowles and secretary Geo. H. Peck. Not cancelled. Black border and print, red underprint. Small California state seal vignette (center), dog next to safe (bottom center), and bushel of hay (bottom right). No printer listed. 25 cent US IR adhesive stamp on left side. Deep folds, light wear. 5.5 x 10" Not listed in Langley 1863 or 1864. According to the Sacramento Daily Union, Jan. 8, 1867: "The Oxford Beta tunnel is now in over one thousand feet, and is being vigorously worked by Thomas Lytle day and night. They have gone through three ledges— one about ten feet wide. One is forty feet and the other yet wider, with stratas of bed rock in it. It is said the rock in them will pay $40 to $50 to the ton."
