A round brass railroad lock with the text "PACIFIX / EX CO" on the face and the number 100 stamped on the shackle. The lock is a pancake lock, a style of padlock produced from the 1900s to the 1930s by various manufacturers characterized by a design that allows the lock to lie flat and a locking mechanism that does not require the key to be turned. The lock is not in working order; the shackle is stuck and damaged. It has been cleaned, and all text is fully legible. This locks begs a history- was it cut open to open an express box??
