Extremely strong Dec. 17 Placerville cancel. Mailed to General Hutchington. He built the first pier extending out into Lake Michigan; also built two large, first-class vessels and a steam flouring mill. In 1848, in" Wisconsin, he was appointed a delegate to the National Convention that nominated Zachary Taylor for President. In 1850 he came overland with a party of fifteen traveling from Council Bluffs to Sacramento. General Hutchinson immediately put up a building on J Street the upper part being the National Hotel and the lower part a store, occupied by Hutchinson, Green & Co.
