We have had many unissued, but not many issued. Inc. June 1858. No 31, issued for 128 shares to L.L. Lombard on Nov. 21st, 1867. Signed by president Otes and secretary GM Burnham. Pen cancelled. Black border and print, eagle vignette. Folds, heavy toning. 5.25 x 9.5" The Pacific Guano Company was for twenty-six years (1863 –1889) the principal industry of Woods Hole. The islands along the west coast of South America were found to have guano (bird dung) several hundred feet thick, which was used in fertilizer. Ken Prag Collection
