Bond #446 for $500. issued July 1, 1863 by the County of Sacramento. 17.25"x12.25" Cancelled written with Paid stamp. One unused redemption coupon attached. Two redemption stamps, one for 25 cents and one for 5 cents affixed to the front. Fair condition, creased with small tears. The bond was used to raise money for the First Transcontinental Railroad under Sec. 5 of the Pacific Railroad Act of 1862. Specifically, it was used to build the Central Pacific Railroad, which runs from San Francisco to Promontory, Utah.
