A pair of American newspapers: an 1824 issue of the National Gazette and Literary Register and the 1865 Valentine's Day issue of Harper's Weekly. The National Gazette (edited by William Fry) describes the capture of pirates and a summary of congressional sessions. The Harper's Weekly issue, which was released two months before Lincoln's murder, contains a caricature of the president as well as news of a hanging. Both generally in good condition. Beautiful illustrations in Harper's.
