Both are for Meriden Cutlery Company (of Meriden, Connecticut). Both have adhesive revenue stamps. 1) 1870 promise to pay $2,465. Signed by the company's treasurer. $1 and 25-cent adhesive revenue stamps on reverse. Folds and light soiling. 2) Check with gilt lettering and vignette from National Shoe & Leather Bank of New York, 1873. Adhesive revenue on front. Punch cancel with portion missing.
