Vignette of underground mining on top and miner with pick in border. Gilt underprint. These tin mines were near Lincolnton. Tin production in the eastern United States has come from three main localities in the Southern Appalachians. The Caroline tin-spodumene belt astride the North Carolina / South Carolina border is the largest, but the total production there, mostly from placers, has amounted to less than 300 tons. The other two belts are in Alabama and Virginia. [Ref.: Ridge] (Al Adams Gold Rush Memorabilia Collection) Date: 1909 Location: Lincolnton, North Carolina HWAC# 56939
