Older style modern decoy duck, Paiute. Possibly Ivan or Jimmy George. Unsigned. Attribution ND. This style duck was made before the ancient decoys from the Lovelock caves were seen by the George family. They involve thicker reeds, utilizing a Tule body with cat tail head. The ancient decoys used lots of hemp string with a sacred red ocre color for the head and black paint on parts of the body to imitate the Mallard. Three generations of the George family made duck decoys - Grandfather Jimmy George, his son Ivan (and wife Wuzzi), and his grandson Davin (Gooey).
