Rare. 15 pages. Program for the President's Day celebration at the Pan-American Exposition, for Thursday, Sept. 5, 1901. McKinley was fatally shot the next day by anarchist Leon Czolgosz. Front of the program has photograph of McKinley. Reverse has map of fairgrounds. Includes an intinerary of McKinley's day, as well as the music and firewords celebration. It would be the last speech McKinley gave. He said: "Expositions are the timekeepers of progress. They record the world's advancements. They stimulate the energy, enterprise, and intellect of the people, and quicken human genius. They go into the home. They broaden and brighten the daily life of the people. They open mighty storehouses of information to the student...." Doctors were afraid to use the newly created x-ray machine to help find the bullet. 9" x 6" with deep folds and small tears.
