Lot of 3 different. In 1847, a group of New York financiers organized the Panama Railroad Company. This company secured an exclusive concession from Colombia allowing construction of a crossing, which might be by road, rail, river, or a combination. After surveys, a railroad was chosen, and a new contract so specifying was obtained in 1850. The railroad track followed generally the line of the present canal. The first through train from the Atlantic to the Pacific side ran on the completed track on January 28,1855. This rail was used by the SS Central America. 1) Stock issued in 1865. Signed by David Hoadly as president and treasurer Henry Smith. Punch and pen cancelled. 25 cent US Ir stamp attached on the left border. 2) Stock issued in 1870. Same corporate signatures. Punch and pen cancelled. Imprinted revenue Scott Type T4. 3) Stock issued in 1872. Signed by vice president Bellows and secretary John Keeley. Punch cancelled. Imprinted revenue RN-U1. 4.25 x 7"
