Hand colored sketch and hand colored lithograph of the Panama railway at Colubra or Summit Station by F. N. (Fessenden Nott) Otis (1825-1900). Two images matted together in frame—33" H x 25" W.

Otis was a pioneer in the medical field of urology. He studied art in New York and was a teacher of drawing and perspective before entering medical school. Upon graduating in 1852, he served as ships surgeon for the Pacific Mail Steamship Company from 1853-59. He published the Illustrated History of the Panama Railroad.
