This newspaper is a treasured relic of the past for many Inyo County collectors. When opened and laid out flat, the piece measures 20" x 14" and is 4 pages. There are some creases and tears throughout the piece, but it is in overall fine condition. Last of its kind! Panamint City was a wild and wicked town in the early to mid 1870s. It was born after some bandits discovered silver while using the canyon as a hideout. The word of silver brought people to the area, enough in fact for the town to boast saloons, a red light district and a post office. Panamint was a lawless town and their newspaper reflects these times. One article entitled "Another Horrible Murder" tells of a man who was shot dead while eating dinner in Darwin City.
