Spur that once belonged to Mexican Revolutionary Leader Francisco "Pancho" Villa, along with a letter by a Texas testifying to the fact that it was a gift from Villa back in 1911. According to the rancher, J.J. Oliver, when the revolution started to heat up. Oliver had cattle in Mexico and needed to move them north to Texas, out of harm's way. Villa, even though labeled a "bandit" helped with Oliver's effort, never stealing from the herd. It was a gesture of friendship, according to Oliver, that the two men solidified by trading spurs. There is a handwritten letter, as well as the spur that Oliver claims once belonged to Villa. The spur is minus the leather, but in nice condition for its age. [Edinburg] [Texas] [] [] []
