Dated March 9, 1916, this wanted poster offers a $5,000 reward for Francisco "Pancho" Villa , with a reward of $1,000 offered for the arrest of certain members of his party. On this date, Villa and his men raided the town of Columbus, New Mexico at around 4:30 a.m. killing about 16 soldiers and civilians. He lost about 67 of his men, with several being captured. The poster measures 8"x 11" and has no mounting holes. This and the crease folds indicate that the flyer was never posted. This is a very nice sample. NOTE: Several have surfaced over the years and the Columbus, New Mexico Historical Society doubts it validity. Please see photos for more details, [Columbus] [New Mexico] [] [] []
