Fabulous extra-long (9" x 62") framed panorama taken perhaps a week after the earthquake. Minor damage in sky at center and along far right edge. This is a rare view, not commonly seen. Photographer's name does not appear on the photo. This particular photo hung in the Alameda Carnegie Public Library for decades and was sold as surplus about 1980 to the current owner. Panorama photos of the area at the time of the earthquake are rare. George Lawrence (1869-1938) used a clever contraption attached to balloons or a kite for aerial photos of the area. This photo was taken from the ground. Well known California-Nevada photographer R.J. Waters also shot panoramas of the earthquake damage. This photo is not on the SF Virtual Museum list.
