This is a Parker side by side 10 gauge shotgun with exposed hammers and a birthdate of 1884. S/N 42563 marked on the water-table, forearm, trigger guard tail, and the last three digits marked on the lug under the barrels. The gun appears exactly as it left the Parker factory with codes: PT/T/0/P/10/30 translated to be grade 0, top lever action, no extras, pistol grip, 10 bore, with 30 in. barrels. This gun shows considerable wear on the stock with the checkering visible but smooth. It appears to have the original finish. Interestingly, the buttstock wears a metal buttplate that would have been available in the 1878 catalog but appears on this gun made in 1884; possibly using up parts inventory as they were known to do. The barrels are twist Damascus and is still quite visible throughout, still in the original 30 inch length and without any dents. The bores are without pitting. It all fits on a #3 frame and weighs 10.4 lbs., 46.75 in. overall length and is still on-face. A negative is that the right hammer is missing. This is a black powder shotgun with reloading hulls and supplies readily available from Track of the Wolf. Need more challenge to your hunting skills? This could be your next turkey or duck and goose gun. A 10 gauge would easily handle a 3 dram load of black powder under 1.5 oz. of lead or even Bismuth for waterfowl. Reloading could be done on the kitchen table with spousal approval. (Another option is to buy RST light loads.)This gun is an antique and no attempt has been made to fire this gun to confirm its mechanical integrity. Nor should this gun be fired without the examination by a qualified gunsmith. Any attempt to fire an antique is at the risk of the owner and not consistent with the value of the firearm. No sales to New York, New Jersey, California, and Hawaii. No FFL required. Please see photos for details.(ref.
