This is the rare wall map version of the famous Parkinson map of the Comstock Lode. It pre-dates the published, yet different, pocket map of a similar character by one year. 45 x 58.5", mounted loosely on board covered by Plexiglas. "Map of the Comstock Lode and the Washoe Mining Claims embracing the districts of Virginia, Gold Hill, Devils Gate, Silver Star and Flowery. Storey and Lyon counties. Compiled from original surveys made by T.D. Parkinson. 600 feet = 1 inch." This was a wall map with the original wood top piece intact. The Crown Point mine is at the center of the map. The map has serious staining, chips and other condition problems attendant to a wall map that probably hung on a wall in the Comstock for over 100 years before coming down. The top of the map has a longitudinal section showing the boundaries of the various mining patents.
