Extra rare. A must-have for Comstock collectors! 26 x 32" In red presentation covers with gold lettering. "Map of the Comstock Lode and the Washoe Mining Claims in Storey & Lyon Counties, Nevada. Compiled from Official Surveys and other reliable data by T.D. Parkinson, C.E." "Entered according to an Act of Congress by TD Parkinson in 1875." Claims outlines in color. Scale [1:12,000]. 1 in. = 1000 feet. Top has longitudinal section of the Comstock Lode and Washoe mining claims (from Silver Hill to the Union Con), with the Sutro Tunnel level labeled. Even shows shaded areas for "bonanzas" of Crown Point & Belcher, and, of course, the Big Bonanza at the Con. Virginia/California. A great visual of the crowded, overlapping nature of the Comstock mining claims. Printed by G.T. Brown & Co. Lith., 640 Clay St. S.F. Grafton-Tyler Brown was a noted African-American lithographer in San Francisco who designed many Western mining stocks and is the subject of a book by Robert Chandler. Attached to the inside cover is a List of Mineral Claims shown on the map, along with their feet and number of shares. Condition: some toning, a few separations at map fold intersections, rough bottom edge. Overall a great example!Heizer Estate
