Passenger receipt recovered from the S.S. Central America shipwreck for John V. Dobbin, brother of James C. Dobbin, Secretary of the Navy, 1853-1857. John Dobbin was one of many men who worked tirelessly to try to keep the water out of the S.S. Central America. He joined forces with Jones in forming a bucket brigade after rigging pulleys to get barrels of water out through the hatches. He perished.
