This collection of passes and covers are for Isaac Edwards Clarke serving as Provost Marshal in New Orleans, Louisiana. C.1863. There is a letter addressed to President Abraham Lincoln undersigned by Clarke, a business card for I. Edwards Clarke, a CdV of Col. Clarke, a gallery pass dated May 6, 1868 to the Senate chamber gallery to witness the impeachment proceedings for then President Andrew Johnson, a letter addressed to I. Edwards Clarke as Provost Marshal New Orleans dated 1863, a Pass from the Chief Quartermaster's Office giving the "U.S. Provisional Marshal I. Edwards Clarke Free Passage from New Orleans to any Port within the lines and back until further orders", signed by S.B. HOLABIRD Quartermaster., and a notice from Ann Warner of the Bedford Hotel that "servants are charged in the bill and nothing further is expected" (regarding tipping?) dated June 22nd, 1857. Several pieces of paper currency are included with George Washington's likeness and Confederate currency. Framed and matted at 15 in. X 20 in. Please see photos for details.
