Entries start in 1908 and run for about 80pp. up to 1912. Remaining pages in ledger are blank. Also includes loose receipts and correspondence, much from London in Lane County, Oregon. The Order of the Patrons of Husbandry, better known as the Grange, was the first successful national farming organization in the United States. It was founded in 1867 by Oliver Kelley and was formed with a focus on helping farmers share their experiences and learn from each other. The Grange had a significant impact on the agricultural landscape, particularly in the period following the American Civil War. They aimed to address issues faced by farmers, including unfair railroad practices. They experimented with various strategies to combat these practices, such as buying through purchasing agents and operating mail-order houses.
