Peacock Ore, also known as Bornite, is a copper mineral sometimes mined in Mexico. This stone was mined in Mexico at a mine in Cosalia in 1965 Known for its iridescent colors, it was nick-named peacock ore by early miners. Peacock Ore, also known as Chalcopyrite glistens in the sunlight. The colors vary with each mineral specimen. There are pinks, blues, greens and combinations of each creating a visual delight! Chalcopyrite is most often found to contain sparkles of a Gold like substance which is Pyrite. It is known as the Chakra Stone. Bornite has a brown to copper-red color on fresh surfaces that tarnishes to various iridescent shades of blue to purple in places. Its striking iridescence gives it the nickname peacock copper or peacock ore. It occurs globally in copper ores with notable crystal localities in Butte, Montana and at Bristol, Connecticut in the U. S. Substantial variation in the relative amounts of copper and iron is possible and solid solution extends towards chalcopyrite
