Not offered by us before. No. 72, issued for 998 shares to James Peck (probable namesake of the company) on March 7th, 1865 in Boston. Signed by president Linus Child and treasurer E.R. Sawyer. Not cancelled. Black border and print, rare vignette of miners using a sluice box. Not many of these early 1860s Colorado stocks have vignettes. Printed by TR Holland, Boston. 25 cent US IR stamp attached on the left. 6.5 x 9.75" Heavy folds, holes in seal. According to Hollister (1867), the company had 50 0ft. on the Atlantic Lode, Union District, high up on Silver Mountain, Empire. Ore is run down 1500 ft. on a wooden rail to a 12-stamp steam-mill at North Empire. Shaft is 225 ft. deep. 1,000 tons of ore have been taken out, $15 per ton.
