Lot of 5 different. This is an incredibly rare grouping; we've had very few of these catalogs in the past 40 years. The Pelton wheel was invented by Lester Allen Pelton in the 1870s. He came to California during the Gold Rush and noticed that while there were larger wheels for the bigger rivers, there wasn't a small wheel designed for the lower flow of many of the mountain streams. After building a wood prototype, Pelton had an iron version built by Miners Foundry in Nevada City. The first Pelton Wheel was installed at the Mayflower Mine in Nevada City in 1878. Pelton sold the rights to his invention in 1888 to this company that was founded in San Francisco. In 1892, they added a branch in New York City. 1) Seventh Edition, 1898. 98 pp. Profusely illustrated. Missing 3 pages (replaced with modern photocopies).
