Lot of 2 items. (1) Photo of full-sized Pelton Water Wheel w/man standing next to it, photo mounted under glass within wooden frame, photo size +/- 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", frame size +/- 10" x 13", label in lower right corner reads Pelton Wheel at Ames Power Plant, n.d., Telluride Historical Museum, no tears, excellent condition. Note: the Ames Hydroelectric Generating Power Plant was constructed near Ophir, CO in 1890. It was one of the first hydroelectric power plants in the US to generate alternating current (AC) electricity. It was built to power a stamp mill for processing ore at the Gold King Mine up in the mountains near Ophir. This power facility has been upgraded over the years but remains in operation to this day. (2) Billhead from the Pelton Water Wheel Co/San Francisco, dated 1893 to Gaudelaria Gew (sp?) Mex. Mng. Co., $77.00, for an 8" Pelton Gate with Yoke & Handwheel in sections. Note: the Pelton Water Wheel Co. was founded in San Francisco, CA in 1888 by Lester Pelton and A.P. Brayton. Pelton had patented his water wheel in 1880. The company continued to manufacture the Pelton water wheel until 1956 when it was bought out and the wheel was discontinued. City: State: Date:
