Very attractive bonds issued in 1870. They have a vignette of a canal, a $1 revenue stamp at left, and green underprint stating, "$1,000". Pennsylvania Canal (or sometimes Pennsylvania Canal system) refers generally to a complex system of transportation infrastructure improvements including canals, dams, locks, tow paths, aqueducts, and viaducts. The Canal and Works were constructed and assembled over several decades beginning in 1824. The two bonds have extra folds. No coupons attached. The bonds matured in 1910, and have purple stamp cancels at bottom right dated 1911.
