This is a bit of a mystery for us. Our consignor believes it to be the Pennsylvania Mine at Delaware, Michigan. But this company (and stock) is not listed in DeGood. We weren't able to find much on newspapers.com either. We did find mention in 2010 that a Pittsburg-area mine with this company name was finally closing after 167 years old. This would fit our time period. Certificate no. 6, issued for six and two thirds shares in 1847. Signed by John A. Bolles as secretary, who served as Judge Advocate to his brother-in-law General John A. Dix in the Civil War. 6.5 x 7.5" Vignettes of Native American by river and industrial activities. More research needed to confirm exact location and possible ties to the famous Michigan mine.
