# 599 for 4 1/2 shares to Ole Anderson. Silver Mountain was a rare western mining camp with a Scandinavian influx. Signed by John A. Johnson was Secretary, and O.W. Gilman was President. Dateline Silver Mountain 1869. Incorporated June 3, 1863. Seal vignette with horses. 25c Certificate revenue stamp. Three small orange 2c revenue stamps on reverse. Endorsed by Anderson on reverse. Not cancelled. Red underprint 'Silver Mountain.' Border nicks, one small folded corner, light border staining. Printer Mining and Scientific Press. In 1864 the M&S Press reported that they have "struck their ledge". It was active in the 1860s and 1870s, with some production; developed by a lower adit 900' long and an upper adit 300' and shaft, per Appendix chart to "Mines & Mineral Resources of Alpine County CA," by William B. Clark, 1977. This mine was "located South of Scandinavian Cyn and at the head of Penna. Cyn, this mine had a tunnel about 1,000 feet long, piercing vein at about the 800' level; boasted ruby silver "in limited quantities", but cost to reduce was prohibitive...."
