The line never operated. Not a single mile of railroad track in Seneca County was ever laid for this railroad line. The Pennsylvania and Sodus Bay Railroad Co. was organized on April 22, 1870, to construct a railroad from Waverly, Pa., north through Trumansburg, Ovid and Seneca Falls to Sodus Bay. By 1873, rights of way on privately-owned farm property had been obtained and much of the Pennsylvania and Sodus Bay Railroad railbed had been graded; fences and bridges built; and crossing signs and gates erected.
