Petaluma. California is built in either side of the Petaluma River which feeds into San Pablo Bay north of San Francisco. The town was established in the era when Mexico held political control of that part of California, and it grew rapidly as hopeful miners came to California during the 1849 Gold Rush. This lot of Petaluma-area postcards is from the early-to-mid 1900s and includes the growth of the poultry industry, a silk manufacturer, churches, parks, and street scenes. There are 22 B&W cards including many RPCs, two chomoliths, and one hand painted leather card.
