# 16 for 10 shares to Frank Cooper. Signed by John E Hall president and John T (?). Dateline 1864 Silver Mountain. Incorporated May 14, 1864. Location Alpine District. 1750 shares at $100 each. Unusual Calaveras Chronicle Print, Mok, Hill printer. Addison Curtiss was present at the election of John Hall, David Aaron & Steve Mead as trustees, and worked on the claim. Curtiss got a contract to sink 10 feet of shaft for $7.50/foot (May 23 & 24, 1864). Curtiss said, "from our camp we have a beautiful prospect – the Carson Valley in Nevada Territory lies to the North West and snow capped mountains lie all around us. Our camp [is] under the edge of a shelving rock which hangs twenty feet over the creek." (Curtiss diary, May 30, 1864). Frank Cooper was one of the original Commissioners charged with designating the election precincts in newly-formed Alpine Co.
