1/2 of one share of Philadelphia Transportation Company scrip certificate #SC1273. Noted: "This scrip certificate is void after December 31, 1943." Dated Jan 2, 1946 signed by George N. Davis, treas and Ralph T. Sutro, pres. Brownish-gray border, company seal. Philadelphia's first PCC trolleys arrived in 1938. Ordered for 20 by Philadelphia Rapid Transit Co., which became the Philadelphia Transportation Company in 1940. These original cars had 130 more added in 1940-41 and 110 in 1942.
