Lot of 2 issued stocks. 1) No. 211, issued in 1853 to John Evans in Philadelphia. Signed by president Joseph Oats(?) and treasurer John Sellers. Not cancelled. 2) No. 305, issued in 1864 to Charles Wilkins. Signed by president Joseph Powell and treasurer Sellers. Pen cancelled. 25 cent adhesive revenue stamp. Both have stubs attached. Black print on very thin blue paper. Allegorical vignette at center and Conestoga wagon vignette at upper right. Printed by Evans, Philadelphia. 5.5 x 11" Operated a plank toll road between Philadelphia and West Chester. In 1895, the Philadelphia & West Chester Traction Co. was incorporated, and acquired control of the Philadelphia & West Chester Turnpike Road Co., and the Philadelphia Castle Rock & West Chester Railway.
