The Philadelphia and California Mining Company was in the Mariposa Mining District; incorporated in Pennsylvania, this stock issued in 1852 is #1484 of 100 shares to Bettie Paul and signed by President Person Servile and Secretary L. Alter. A beautiful placer mining vignette is centered with a dog and safe at the bottom. There is a black border on a cream paper. 6 in. X 9 in. printed by Gratin. Without border, trimmed on all sides. This is one of three mining ventures of the 1850's that was "hands on" by Fremont. (Holabird 2000, p.91). VF condition.
