Police Docket for the town of Philipsburg, Montana, 12.5 x 18 inches, with alphabetic index pages in front followed by 320 pages. Three entries per page begin on page 1 and the last valid entry appears on page 81, covering 1918 to 1929. Entries include the defendant's name, date, complainant's name, statues violated, plea of guilty or not guilty, the sentence meted out for the offense, fines and costs levied against the defendant, and signature of the Police Magistrate. One of the magistrates is John R. Page, who unsuccessfully sought the nomination to run for lieutenant governor in 1936. The subsequent pages are unused except for 82, 109, 165, and 169, on which the entries are dated 1969, written in the same hand, and nonsensical. Binding is intact, covers show some wear, and all pages appear to be present. Among the loose items tucked into the Docket are four receipts from the Philipsburg Treasurer recording deposits made by magistrate John Guinane, a Certificate of Election for Jack Guinane as Police Judge, and a few pages torn from a probably unrelated ledger.
