This is a photo of a store that carried fine goods, with china, jewelry and victrolas (phonograph machines) on display. One of them has a visible name plate that reads, when magnified, "Brooks Automatic." It is a 7" x 5" photo on a 10" x 8" mat, with "Uncle Harry's Store/Pittsburgh" handwritten on the back. Brooks Manufacturing Company opened for business in 1918 when the Victor patents expired. Brooks was the first company to offer automatic repeating phonographs that would play any kind of record, any number of times. A dial on the machine allowed the operator to select up to nine plays, or continous play.
