Photo albums and letter/cover archive from Harry L. Armstrong, c. 1909-1920's. He volunteered for both World Wars, and served on the German front in WW1. He was a Stanford railroad mining engineering student about 1909, and went into railroad telegraphy in the teens. He worked for LA Water and Power in the 1920's. Significant photos include Audley Railroad, Yosemite, military, Death Valley borax wagons and general store, Newberry CA railroad and Wells Fargo office, Tijuana, Catalina, southern California train wreck, comical gunplay, Yucca AZ, adult and child photos of Harry. Perhaps 100 long letters to Ruthie at home while Harry is working on projects on the southern California/Arizona border, c. 1909-1920's with WW1 intervening. Some of these letters describe where he is located while on work assignment. About 100 personal photos. Many covers sent from Andrade, CA. Nice historical archive from Harry's point of view.
