Lot of approx. 25 professional photos.Thomas Guthrie came to California in 1850. He was a well known wealthy resident of Yolo county. He was born in Virginia in 1830, was lured to California in 1850 by the gold rush & mined near Georgetown, El Dorado County for 2 years when he then moved to Yolo county where he engaged in mercantile business & in the buying & selling of stock. At the time of his death he owned 320 acres near Winters, Cal. He had 8 children. T. Guthrie was the first master Mason of Buckeye Lodge No. 195 in Winters, took great interest in education, serving for twenty years as school trustee.
