A 5x8 inch sepia photo of "Shorty" mounted on a 7.5x13 card with his signature at the bottom. Talbert was born in Albany, Oregon in 1887. When he was twenty-two, in 1909, he moved to Chicago to "get into the theatrical business." One of his first roles was "Shorty" in 1910. The "Squaw Man" must have been a series of short films, as there is no mention of it in the usual search sites. In 1914 Cecil B. DeMille's first film was released. Titled "The Squaw Man" it is famous as Hollywood's first feature-length movie. Until 1929 Talbert worked with stock and vaudeville companies, and in theater and motion picture promotion as an actor, advance man, business manager and partner. He later promoted theatrical events in Albany. His papers are now on file at the University of Oregon at Eugene.
