Lot of 4 original Spanish-American War photographs related to Charles Cochran, a member of the "Rough Riders," Company H, 1st US Volunteer Calvary. Also included in the lot are photocopies of official military papers related to Cochran's enlisting and discharge. Cochran was born in Lincoln County, New Mexico in 1871. When he enlisted in 1898 in Santa Fe, he listed his occupation as "cowboy." He was discharged as a corporal in Sept. 1898 at Camp Wikoff in New York. He died in 1911 in Loraine, Texas. 1) 10.5 x 13" mounted photograph dated Sept. 12, 1898, Montauk Point, NY. Shows Cochran (right) with four other soldiers. Likely at Camp Wikoff. 2) Two cabinet cards of Cochran. One is a studio portrait with Cochran in his Rough Riders uniform incl. rifle and ammunition. No photographer listed. The other cabinet card is by Butter of Eddy, NM, showing an older Cochran. 3) Large mounted photograph by Anderson, Kearney. Not identified or dated, but appears to be Company H at camp. 10 x 12" Cochran appears to be the 4th soldier from the right. Fascinating group of original Spanish-American War photographs!
