Number 336 to Thomas F Barry for 500 shares in 1909. Incorporated in Delaware in 1907. 8 x 12". Handwritten in pencil it says, "Works at Dahlonega, Georgia, Office in Philadelphia." Signed by JL von Nieda and Frank Toomey. Vignette of a waterfall. Some edge creasing, hard to see dog ear on upper left, and a few pin holes. But the writing on this orange on white stock certificate make it look very attractive. The Piedmont opened the old Betz Mine; sometimes referred to as the Etowah or Piedmont Mine. In 1908 it had open cuts and inclines, the deepest of which was 440' on the incline. It also has a plant consisting of ten 450-pound stamps, four 5-foot Huntingdon mills and 2 Wifley tables. Active work began in May of 1908 and there had been important production by the end of that year.
